Apparently, Mayor Bloomberg and the real estate owners in the Fashion District think that they can uproot one of the most profitable business centers in New York City by rezoning the clothing factories that have made some of the world’s finest fashions.
Luckily, Bill Thompson, heads from the CFDA, Saks, and many designers got together for a rally today on 39th and 7th to show them that moving production out of the city is NOT going to happen.
Sylvia, Eileen, and I went and stood by the statue of the Immigrant and rallied with a few hundred other people and showed our support for the most beautiful industry the city has. The Fashion Center Needle and Button stood tall over the speakers and pierced the sky, just like the proud cheers for saving the Fashion District.
Here are photos of fashion in the making!
